Vaishnaw Reviews Ahmedabad-Dholera Semi High-Speed Rail Project

Union Minister for Railways, Communications, Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, recently conducted a review of the Ahmedabad-Dholera semi-high-speed rail project, underscoring the government's commitment to enhancing transportation infrastructures in Gujarat. This project is part of a broader vision to bolster connectivity between major urban centers and emerging developments such as the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR). The semi-high-speed rail corridor is projected to cover a distance between Ahmedabad and Dholera, offering quicker travel times and improved access for passengers. The total investment for this project is estimated to be ₹20,667 crore, as cleared by the Cabinet, reflecting significant support from governmental levels for infrastructural growth in this region. The Ahmedabad-Dholera semi-high-speed rail project is expected to facilitate faster transportation options for both individuals and goods, which is critical for supporting economic activities in Dholera, an area being developed as an industrial hub. This rail link will complement existing infrastructure projects in the region, such as the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway, a 109 km long, four-lane, access-controlled road aimed at enhancing connectivity between these two locations. As the Dholera SIR is envisioned to host a range of industries and attract investments, the integration of efficient transport options will play a pivotal role in its growth and development.
