Tata Electronics Signs Strategic MoU with ASML for India’s First 300mm Semiconductor Fab

Tata Electronics has recently signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ASML, a leading supplier of photolithography systems for semiconductor manufacturing, to establish India’s first 300mm semiconductor fabrication facility in Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR). This move is part of Tata's broader initiative to bolster India’s semiconductor manufacturing capability and aims to position the country as a critical player in the global semiconductor supply chain. The MoU is indicative of a significant investment into advanced technology, which is essential given the increasing global demand for semiconductors across various industries. Dholera SIR is strategically chosen for this project due to its advanced infrastructure and commitment from the Gujarat state government to support high-tech industries. Tata Electronics, a subsidiary of the renowned Tata Sons, was incorporated in December 2020 and has been actively working towards setting up this semiconductor fabrication unit in Dholera. The collaboration with ASML, known for its cutting-edge technology in chip manufacturing equipment, further solidifies the technological foundation of this project. The facility is expected to address India's growing need for semiconductors and contribute to self-reliance in this critical sector, which has gained renewed focus in light of global supply chain disruptions.
