Tata Electronics signs MoU with ASML for its Dholera semiconductor plant

Tata Electronics has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ASML, a leading supplier of photolithography equipment critical to semiconductor manufacturing, for its upcoming semiconductor fabrication plant located in Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR). This strategic partnership aims to bolster India's semiconductor manufacturing capabilities, an area of immense importance given the global semiconductor supply chain disruptions in recent years. The Dholera plant, which is poised to be India's first commercial semiconductor fabrication facility, is expected to play a pivotal role in establishing the nation as a competitor in the global electronics manufacturing landscape. The MoU falls within a broader framework of collaboration between Tata Electronics and various stakeholders, including the Government of Gujarat, aimed at facilitating the establishment of the semiconductor facility. Tata Electronics, a subsidiary of Tata Sons established in December 2020 and headquartered in Bengaluru, is making substantial investments in the Dholera project, which is part of a larger state initiative to create a hub for advanced manufacturing technology.
