Tata Electronics and ASML Sign MoU for Dholera 300mm Semiconductor Chip Fab in Presence of PM Modi and Dutch PM

Tata Electronics has partnered with ASML, a leading Dutch semiconductor equipment manufacturer, by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the establishment of a 300mm semiconductor chip fabrication facility in Dholera, Gujarat. The MoU was signed in the presence of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, marking a significant collaboration between India and the Netherlands in advanced manufacturing technology. This project is set to place Dholera, an emerging Industrial Smart City, at the forefront of semiconductor production in India, signifying a monumental step towards enhancing the country's self-reliance in this critical industry. The Dholera semiconductor fab stands as an essential initiative under the government's broader aim to boost the local semiconductor ecosystem and reduce reliance on imports. The facility represents India's first commercial semiconductor fabrication plant, a vital infrastructure that will support various sectors including electronics, automotive, and telecommunications. Tata Electronics, which was formed as a subsidiary of Tata Sons in December 2020 and is headquartered in Bengaluru, aims to leverage advanced technologies through collaborations with global leaders such as ASML, ensuring that Dholera becomes a key player in the global semiconductor supply chain. This development is particularly crucial for Dholera SIR, as it aligns with the area’s vision of becoming a significant hub for manufacturing and technology.
