India’s First Semi-High-Speed Rail Project To Link Ahmedabad With Dholera As PM Modi-Led CCEA Clears Rs 20,667 Crore Plan

The Government of India has taken a significant step towards enhancing the connectivity of Dholera SIR with the approval of the semi-high-speed rail project that will link Ahmedabad with Dholera. The plan, cleared by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is projected to cost approximately ₹20,667 crore. This rail link aims to provide an efficient and rapid transit option for passengers traveling between the two industrial hubs, supporting the government's vision for a robust transportation infrastructure. The Bhimnath–Dholera Rail Link will serve as a critical component in Dholera SIR's development strategy, connecting the bustling metropolitan region of Ahmedabad to the emerging smart city of Dholera. The approved cash flow signal further solidifies the importance of Dholera as a key site for India’s economic growth by bolstering transport links that are expected to facilitate easier movement of both labor and goods, thereby attracting further investment. Alongside the rail project, the already-established Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway represents another critical infrastructure element, extending 109 kilometers and linking the two areas effectively. This advancement is significant for Dholera SIR, which is envisioned as a major manufacturing and industrial hub as part of the government's broader strategy to promote the Make in India initiative.
