Gujarat launches first Data Centre Policy, targets ₹6 lakh crore investments and 7.5 GW capacity

Gujarat has recently introduced its inaugural Data Centre Policy, which aims to attract investments of up to ₹6 lakh crore and generate a capacity of 7.5 GW within this emerging sector. The policy seeks to bolster Gujarat's position as a leading destination for data centre establishments, emphasizing sustainability and technological innovation. The government's strategic initiative is expected to facilitate a quicker and more streamlined process for the approval and establishment of data centres, thereby aligning with the broader goals of digital transformation and infrastructure enhancement in the state. In line with the new policy, Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) is already positioning itself as a hotspot for advanced tech infrastructure. A notable project underway is the construction of a 250 MW green AI-ready data centre within Dholera SIR, involving a substantial investment of ₹25,000 crore.
