Gujarat chip city: Japanese, Taiwanese firms plan housing corridors in Dholera; Tata’s fab to host expat

Recent reports indicate that major Japanese and Taiwanese companies are planning to develop housing corridors in Dholera, Gujarat, in connection with the establishment of a semiconductor manufacturing hub. This initiative is particularly linked to Tata Electronics’ semiconductor fabrication plant, which is recognized as India's first commercial semiconductor fab. The plans for the housing corridors are intended to accommodate the expatriate workforce that will be associated with this venture, helping to ensure adequate living conditions for employees involved in semiconductor production. Tata Electronics, which was established in December 2020 and has its headquarters in Bengaluru, is collaborating with the Taiwanese firm, PSMC, to set up this semiconductor plant in Dholera.
