Ahmedabad - Dholera Semi - High - Speed Rail Project Approved

The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the Ahmedabad-Dholera semi-high-speed rail project at a cost of ₹20,667 crore. Marking India's first semi-high-speed rail initiative utilizing indigenous technology, the project is part of the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan. It aims to enhance connectivity between several key locations, including Dholera SIR and the future Dholera Airport, ultimately benefiting around 500,000 people. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel highlighted the project's significance for Gujarat, noting its potential to serve as a model for future expansions of semi-high-speed rail networks in India. In addition to improving transportation efficiency, the project intends to reduce carbon emissions and logistics costs. It will also enhance connections for nearly 284 villages, adding roughly 134 km to the Indian Railways network.
