Ahmedabad - Dholera Semi High - Speed Rail Project Approved

The Union Cabinet has approved the Ahmedabad-Dholera Semi High-Speed Double Line project at a cost of Rs 20,667 crore, marking a significant advancement for Indian Railways as it will be the country's first semi-high-speed project using indigenous technology. This 134 km rail line aims to connect Ahmadabad to Dholera SIR, the future Dholera Airport, and the Lothal National Maritime Heritage Complex, resulting in reduced travel times. The initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for "New India," focusing on economic self-sufficiency and job creation in the region. It is designed to benefit around 5 lakh people across 284 villages while contributing to reduced oil imports and CO2 emissions. The project is also seen as a model for future expansions of semi-high-speed rail throughout India, enhancing connectivity and mobility effectively.
